What performances are there throughout the year?

We have a midyear presentation day for all students and 2 end of year shows. Students also participate in other performances and charity work throughout the year.

Are there competitions?

Generally no. Technica Dance Company does not offer competitions due to their nature, however students participating in stage exams have option of entering in them.

Are the teachers qualified?

All teachers have recognised teaching diplomas in the CSTD. Each teacher is also trained in First Aid and hold current Working with Children Checks.

What age groups do you offer?

We have all agers from 3 years to adult.

Are there any boys at Technica?

Yes! We do have a few boys but we can definitely use a few more, we would love to have you!

Do I have to sew costumes?

Technica has a small team of dress makers, but if you can sew, we could definitely use your help! Patterns and instructions are provided to sewers, but for those who can’t sew, they may also help by offering their expertise in sequin sewing, haberdashery or prop making etc.

What are the purpose of exams?

Examinations help students to develop their performance and technical skills and also provide the opportunity to sit for Teachers’ Certificates/Diplomas in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Theatrical if they are of standard.

Does my child have to sit exams?

No. Exams are entirely optional. Students are encouraged if they would like to develop their dance skills (however it is not compulsory) to sit examinations, although individual assessment shall be undertaken to determine if the student is capable/ready for the exam.

Why choose the CSTD exam syllabus?

The CSTD syllabus provides technical dancers with broad range of styles. Many of “So You Can Think You Can Dance” finalists have been trained in the syllabus. The syllabus also gives opportunity to gain teacher qualifications which are recognized throughout Australia & the Asia Pacific region.
